डॉ. पंजाबराव देशमुख विद्यार्थी प्रोत्साहन अभियान
Dr. Bhausaheb Deshmukh was born in the year 1898. He was born in a farmer’s family at Papal in Amravati district. He had done his schooling at Papal and then in Amravati. The higher education was obtained at Edinburgh and Oxford universities. He had done his law doctorate in Briton. The subject of his research was ”The dawn of religion and its growth”. He returned back in Amravati and started law practice. He was elected as a member of provincial law board in 1930 and went on to become Minister of Education, Agriculture and Co-operative Departments. He was the member of the committee for the development of Indian Constitution after independence. He was elected member of Parliament in 1952, 1957 and 1962. He was Union Minister of Agriculture from 1952 to 1962. His other important contributions were opening wells to the so-called Untouchables and opening of Shri Ambadevi Temple to this same communities in 1928. He also started Shraddhanand hostel for poor students. He was the founder of well known Shri Shivaji Education Society. Today this society runs several educational institutes, which include Medical College, Engineering college and other educational institutes and hostels. In order to improve the condition of farmers he formed “Bharat Krushak Samaj” and to advocate it’s policies he started a newspaper namely “Maharashtra Kesari”. this great of the soil passed away in 1965.
Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh, first Agricultural Minister of India, who did green revolution / agricultural revolution in vidharbh and construct the foundation of Education and Culture in vidharbh in Maharashtra has solemnly credit of it. He Founded ‘Shri Shivaji Shikshan Sansth’ for the upliftment and facility of education for the childern from poor students belongs remote area and childrens of poor farmers who belongs from Adivashi community in vidharbh of Maharashtra.
In 2007, due to his respect and honour, SKVSP started a movement in his name “Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Vidhyarth Protsahan Abhiyan” from Shree Sant Gadgebaba residential school, Nagarwadi, Dist. Amravati which is running in that area. Thousand of students belongs from that category are studying at Nagarwadi school under this movement. out of them students who are merited and proficient were felicitated along with prize of set of educational material. Total 5000 students were felicitated from 100 different schools from that area. We had received huge response from thousands of students and hundreds of teachers.
By the point of view and the purpose to maintain continuity in this movement, SKVSP held a webinar named “Vedh” for three days in Amrawati District. Total 300 volunteers were trained in the webinar. And Because of this there is continuity in social work services in 11 districts of Vidharbh region of Maharashtra.
